Zocdoc Opens Healthcare Infrastructure to AI Agents, Announces Instinct Partnership

Instinct joins Zocdoc’s Care Access Network, which includes Google Gemini, Amazon Health AI, Yelp, Healthgrades, Blue Shield of California, and leading search engines.

Zocdoc has announced an open invitation for registered AI agents to connect to its infrastructure and a new partnership with Instinct, a personal AI assistant.

The move lets participating agents find verified healthcare providers, check insurance coverage, and book confirmed appointments on patients' behalf, subject to consent requirements.

In September 2026, the company launched its Care Access Network to make its scheduling infrastructure available through third-party platforms, including AI tools, insurer websites, and search services.

As part of its broader initiative, Zocdoc is inviting AI agents to register and connect to its healthcare access infrastructure. These agents can use the platform to identify verified providers, check whether they accept a patient’s insurance plan, confirm appointment availability, and book appointments directly into providers’ calendars.

Zocdoc said the approach is intended to reduce errors associated with fragmented provider directories and outdated insurance information.

"In healthcare, if agents send patients to a doctor who does not exist, an appointment that isn't available, or a provider who doesn't take their insurance, the consequences are real. And it's the patient who pays the price. We've spent nearly 20 years obsessing over the details that make access actually work. We could insist that patients come through our front door. Instead, we're bringing trusted, reliable healthcare booking to them, wherever they are," Oliver Kharraz, MD, founder and CEO of Zocdoc, said.

The company has reported that traffic from AI agents to its platform has grown nearly 30-fold since July 2026, with traffic doubling approximately every 10 days since early September.

Zocdoc sees AI agents as an emerging route through which patients can search for and access healthcare services.

Separately, Zocdoc has announced a partnership with Instinct, giving the AI agent direct access to its Model Context Protocol (MCP) infrastructure.

Through this integration, Instinct can search for verified providers, check insurance coverage, and book confirmed appointments using Zocdoc’s network. The bookings are added directly to providers’ calendars.

“Since healthcare is more complicated than ordering groceries or booking travel, the stakes are higher. By partnering with Zocdoc, Instinct can navigate that complexity – so getting an appointment can be as simple as sending a text,” Ben Schwerin, Chief Business Officer of Instinct, said.

Zocdoc’s infrastructure includes more than 200,000 verified providers, over 10,000 insurance plans, and more than 175 scheduling integrations. The company also reports having 250,000 appointments available to book within the next 24 hours, with typical appointments taking place within 24-72 hours of booking.

Instinct joins Zocdoc’s Care Access Network, which includes Google Gemini, Amazon Health AI, Yelp, Healthgrades, Blue Shield of California, and leading search engines.

Other AI agents can apply to connect through options including Zocdoc’s MCP server, REST API, agent guidance files, and deep links.

Zocdoc requires participating agents to register and identify themselves. Agents must obtain explicit patient consent before booking appointments and protect patient and provider data. The company also prohibits agents from using the data to train themselves, reselling it, or republishing it.
