Sindhu Hospitals Partners with BeyondA1C to Introduce AI-Enabled Screening for Diabetic Complications

The partnership aims to introduce the Sheffield One-Stop screening pathway at the hospital, alongside testing programmes for patients undergoing chemotherapy and those receiving dialysis.

Sindhu Hospitals in Hyderabad has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with BeyondA1C, a division of US-based MedicaMetrix, to introduce AI-enabled point-of-care screening for diabetic complications and related conditions.

The partnership aims to introduce the Sheffield One-Stop screening pathway at the hospital, alongside testing programmes for patients undergoing chemotherapy and those receiving dialysis.

According to the organisation, the initiative marks the first launch of these technology-enabled tests in India.

The initiative is intended to incorporate AI-enabled screening into routine clinical care, including for patients who may not yet show symptoms of nerve damage or other complications.

Its implementation is aimed at examining how point-of-care testing can be incorporated into clinical workflows to support the identification and monitoring of patients at risk of nerve-related complications.

The AI-enabled device can deliver testing for three key clinical scenarios, including the Sheffield One-Stop pathway, designed to assess nerve function and related complication risks in people at risk of diabetes and those already diagnosed, during a single appointment.

BeyondA1C Onco assesses sural nerve function in both legs of patients undergoing chemotherapy and compares the results with individual baseline measurements to help monitor treatment-related peripheral neuropathy.

BeyondA1C Dialysis focuses on patients undergoing regular dialysis, assigning an International Working Group on the Diabetic Foot (IWGDF) 2023 risk category from 0 to 3 to support foot-risk assessment and follow-up.

Sindhu Hospitals is designed as a 1500-bed multi-super specialty, quaternary care hospital in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. Founded by Dr. Bandi Parthasaradhi Reddy as an initiative of Sai Sindhu Foundation and inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in May 2026.

Located in HITEC City, Sindhu Hospitals is one of India’s largest not-for-profit cancer-focused multi-super specialty hospitals.

Spread across 2.2 million square feet with 18 floors, the hospital offers comprehensive care across more than 30 specialties, supported by advanced diagnostics, infrastructure, advanced technology, and a highly experienced team of specialists dedicated to delivering compassionate and accessible healthcare.

Dr B. Soma Raju, Consultant Cardiologist and Mentor Director, Sindhu Hospitals said, “Finding diabetic complications early should be routine care. BeyondA1C tests will become part of our specialties, including oncology and dialysis.”

BeyondA1C is a division of MedicaMetrix, headquartered in Waltham, Massachusetts, United States. Its screening, diagnostic, and surveillance tests use point-of-care nerve conduction testing with the regulatory-cleared DPNCheck device to assess nerve injury and associated complications.

The company works with hospital and laboratory partners internationally and has also collaborated with the University of Sheffield.

“Sindhu Hospitals is the right place to begin in India,” said Robert Rudelius, Chief Executive Officer of MedicaMetrix, adding that the hospital’s clinicians and research focus would show what earlier testing means for patients with diabetes, cancer and kidney disease.

The partnership seeks to introduce nerve-function screening across diabetes care, oncology and dialysis services.
