Zocdoc Launches Care Access Network to Expand Provider Booking Across AI and Search Platforms

According to Zocdoc, typical appointments through its network occur within 24 to 72 hours of booking, compared with national average outpatient specialist wait times of more than 30 days.

Zocdoc has launched its Care Access Network, an enterprise platform that enables healthcare providers to make real-time appointment availability discoverable and bookable across external channels, including Google Gemini, Amazon Health AI, Yelp, Healthgrades, Blue Shield of California, search engines, and commercial insurance directories.

The network allows providers to maintain a single scheduling integration rather than managing separate calendar connections and directory listings across multiple platforms. Zocdoc said its network synchronizes with more than 175 electronic health record (EHR) and practice management systems (PMS), allowing available appointment slots to reflect schedule changes in real time and booked visits to flow into clinical templates.

According to Zocdoc, typical appointments through its network occur within 24 to 72 hours of booking, compared with national average outpatient specialist wait times of more than 30 days.

The company is also introducing a zero-upfront-cost participation model. Licensed healthcare providers can join the network without an initial fee. Providers do not pay booking fees when existing patients schedule appointments or when patients search for a specific clinician by name. A one-time transaction fee applies when Zocdoc facilitates the discovery of a new patient and a confirmed appointment.

The expansion follows findings from a national Zocdoc survey on healthcare search and scheduling. The survey found that 69% of patients looking for a new doctor use multiple channels, while more than one-third reported switching providers because of scheduling difficulties. Another 43% said they would switch to a practice offering easier digital booking.

Zocdoc is also expanding its Practice Solutions suite, which includes digital intake, automated insurance eligibility verification, patient communication tools, and branded scheduling widgets. The company said these website scheduling widgets have generated a 25% to 30% increase in organic practice website bookings.

In addition, Zocdoc is deploying Zo, an AI-powered phone assistant that can answer calls around the clock, access real-time provider availability, and schedule appointments without front-desk intervention.

The company is positioning the Care Access Network as an infrastructure layer between AI and search interfaces and provider scheduling systems. Through developer APIs, machine-readable availability feeds, and Model Context Protocol (MCP) server hooks, Zocdoc is enabling platforms such as Gemini and Amazon Health AI to connect patients from care discovery to appointment booking.

“Keeping up with every new place patients search for care is becoming an impossible task for providers. With Zocdoc, now they don’t have to,” said Richard Fine, Chief Business Officer at Zocdoc.
