Bengaluru-based Surgy Health Launches AI-Enabled HIS for India & GCC Markets

The SurgyOne platform integrates outpatient, inpatient, emergency, laboratory and radiology, pharmacy, and billing functions within a single system.

Surgy Health, a Bengaluru-based healthcare software startup, has launched SurgyOne, an agentic AI-enabled hospital information system (HIS) and electronic health record (EHR) platform targeting mid-market hospital groups in India and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region.

The SurgyOne platform integrates outpatient, inpatient, emergency, laboratory and radiology, pharmacy, and billing functions within a single system.

Commenting on the new launch, Mohammed Jamil Nasir, founder of Surgy Health, said, “We built SurgyOne the other way round. The agent already knows the patient, the queue, and the bill. It prepares the follow-up work, and a person approves every action before anything happens.”

Key Features

The platform covers six hospital operational modules, including outpatient care (SurgyOPD), inpatient care (SurgyIPD), emergency (SurgyER), laboratory and radiology (SurgyLabs), pharmacy (SurgyPharmacy) and billing (SurgyBilling).

The modules operate through a common login and patient record, allowing information entered during registration, consultations, or bedside care to be accessed across relevant workflows.

SurgyOne incorporates an AI agent within its hospital management modules to retrieve information from hospital records, prepare routine tasks, and execute approved actions. The system is designed to reduce repetitive data entry by maintaining a shared patient record across its modules.

It answers from live hospital records with sources, drafts tasks, and runs them only after a staff member approves; clinical decisions remain with clinicians.

According to the startup, clinical decisions remain under the responsibility of healthcare professionals. The AI agent is not permitted to independently order tests, sign clinical results, triage patients, or discharge them.

In addition, the AI agent runs on Google's open medical AI models, MedGemma, which Surgy Health hosts on its own infrastructure. According to the startup, this setup keeps patient records from being shared with third-party AI services.

Before any action is switched on, each module's agent runs in shadow mode, with actions disabled, until it passes an evaluation that includes cases written by clinicians.

Further, the platform also incorporates HL7 FHIR R4, a standard for exchanging healthcare information electronically.

It is also designed to support India's Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) and Saudi Arabia's NPHIES health insurance platform and includes consent-related controls intended to address India's Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act requirements.

Founded in 2020, Surgy Health (Surgy Innovation Labs) by Mohammed Jamil Nasir that delivered more than 50 projects. In 2024, Pankaj Singh Brijwal, an enterprise sales and go-to-market leader, joined Nasir as co-founder, and the startup pivoted to AI software for hospitals. Its product portfolio includes SurgyOne, SurgyScribe, SurgyFrontdesk, SurgyCRM, SurgyLearn, SurgySettle, and SurgyInsight.

Currently, it serves more than 4,000 healthcare users across 10 hospital groups and 500-plus centres in India, Kuwait, and Bahrain.

According to the Bengaluru-based startup, its product is designed for mid-market, multi-specialty hospital groups, typically two or more hospitals with 500-1,500 beds, in India and the GCC.

As per reports, the startup has opened the platform for demonstrations and pilot projects, with its first hospital deployment under contract and scheduled to go live between December 2026 and January 2027.
