Reliance Announces Google Cloud Region in Jamnagar & Names Health & Genomics Among Expansion Areas

The Jamnagar facility will host Google Cloud’s AI infrastructure, including its AI Hypercomputer and integrated AI stack.

Reliance Industries has named digital health, life sciences, and genomics among its new expansion frontiers while announcing a Google Cloud region at Jamnagar. The announcement was made during the company’s 48th Annual General Meeting (AGM).

Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries, announced a collaboration with Google Cloud to establish a new region in Jamnagar.

“Reliance and Google Cloud are collaborating to launch a state-of-the-art, new Cloud Region at Jamnagar. It will be designed, built, and powered by Reliance to meet Google Cloud’s global specifications and service level standards for demanding AI workloads,” Ambani said.

The Jamnagar facility will host Google Cloud’s AI infrastructure, including its AI Hypercomputer and integrated AI stack.

Further, Reliance Jio will provide network connectivity, and the region will be powered by renewable energy from Reliance’s green energy ecosystem.

"This will be available not just for all Reliance businesses but also for external enterprises, start-ups, and the public sector across India," Ambani said, confirming the initiative's scope.

In the same address, Ambani further outlined Reliance’s future priorities, stating that the company will expand in the “frontiers of Digital Health, Life Sciences and Genomics, AI and Clean Energy.”

Alongside the technology announcement, Reliance Foundation unveiled plans for a major new healthcare facility in Mumbai.

Nita Ambani, Founder and Chairperson of Reliance Foundation, announced that “Reliance Foundation is setting up a world-class, 2,000-bed Medical City in Mumbai. It will house a state-of-the-art teaching hospital and a medical college. It will also offer AI-enabled diagnostics.”

She also highlighted the expansion of existing services at Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital, with the new “Jeevan” extension designed to strengthen oncology care, particularly paediatric cancer treatment.
