Delhi CM Inaugurates Three New Healthcare Facilities in LNJP Hospital

CM also announced the plans to exceed WHO’s recommended two beds per 1,000 people standard, targeting three beds per 1,000 persons within five years.

Delhi CM, Rekha Gupta has recently inaugurated three new healthcare projects at Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan (LNJP) Hospital. This development marks a major step forward in improving the quality of healthcare infrastructure, to provide an accessible and advanced medical care for all citizens.

The facilities include a medical genetics ward, a lactation management unit (LMU) and a nucleic acid testing (NAT) lab.

The healthcare facilities aim to strengthen the capital’s public health infrastructure with new advanced facilities, to strengthen the capital’s public health infrastructure.

While inaugurating the facilities, the CM said, “Our goal is to ensure accessible, high-quality and timely medical services for every citizen, regardless of age, background or region. A healthy Delhi is the foundation of a developed Delhi.”

Among the three facilities, the Medical Genetics Department at LNJP is a first for any Delhi Government Hospital which joins the elite group of NMC Colleges’ Centre for Excellence for Rare Genetic Disorder.

The ward will offer comprehensive diagnosis, treatment, and counselling for rare genetic disorders, including parental care, expanding the department’s services span from parental to geriatric care.

On the other hand, the Lactation Management Unit (LMU) is designed to serve preterm, low-birth-weight, and critically ill new-borns. The Unit will offer breastfeeding counselling, safe milk collection and storage, and ‘Donor Human Milk’ services to reduce infection risks in newborns.

The newly inaugurated NAT lab is a first of its kind in Delhi which promises faster and more reliable blood screening, reducing the detection time for infections like HIV and Hepatitis B/C from 45 days to just two.

Health Minister Dr Pankaj Kumar Singh said the government was working tirelessly to deliver on the vision of a “Viksit Delhi” under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.

“All pending health infrastructure projects will be completed soon. We have prioritised and implemented all Central Government healthcare schemes to ensure better medical services for every citizen of Delhi,” he said.

The Delhi CM also visited the SU Block Park in Pitampura on Wednesday, unveiling Rs 25 crore development projects as part of her 'Sewa ke Sau Din' initiative.
