PM Modi Highlights Digital Health Milestone as eSanjeevani Crosses 50 Crore Teleconsultations

He also highlighted the role of more than 1.9 lakh Ayushman Arogya Mandirs in expanding access to primary healthcare and IIT Madras’s advances in 3D brain mapping.

During the 139th episode of Mann Ki Baat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted India’s digital health progress, noting that the national telemedicine service eSanjeevani has facilitated more than 50 crore teleconsultations.

He also highlighted the role of more than 1.9 lakh Ayushman Arogya Mandirs in expanding access to primary healthcare and IIT Madras’s advances in 3D brain mapping, underscoring the role of technology and research in India’s healthcare development.

“The 'eSanjeevani Programme' shows how technology can improve lives and make everyday tasks easier. It gives me great satisfaction to see that, through this, about 50 crore tele-consultations have been conducted so far. It is an excellent example of the power of technology, the spirit of service of our doctors, and the trust of our fellow citizens. Today, through its vast network, the eSanjeevani service has reached even remote parts of the country,” PM Modi said.

Launched in 2019, eSanjeevani has become an important component of India’s digital health infrastructure. The service includes doctor-to-doctor consultations and patient-to-doctor teleconsultations, helping connect healthcare providers and patients without requiring every consultation to take place in person.

eSanjeevani has reached 50,00,92,730 consultations on September 15, 2026, across all 36 States and Union Territories, connecting more than 1.42 lakh Ayushman Arogya Mandir spokes, 19,473 medical hubs, and 901 online OPDs, supported by 2,41,923 registered healthcare providers.

Ayushman Arogya Mandirs are intended to bring essential health services closer to communities, including people living in rural areas. He noted that regular health check-ups and access to medical advice are becoming increasingly accessible at the local level, with eSanjeevani supporting this shift.

Beyond digital health, PM Modi highlighted scientific research at the Sudha Gopalakrishnan Brain Centre at IIT Madras. Researchers are using the Param Shakti supercomputer to develop high-resolution, digital three-dimensional maps of the human brain. The initiative aims to map and study 100 human brains, creating detailed resources for neuroscience research.

“This is the first mission of its kind in the entire world,” he said, referring to the brain-mapping initiative.

He also acknowledged contributions from industry, the government, IIT alumni and the academic community to the development of the research centre.

The address also recognised efforts in Meghalaya and Nagaland to revive traditional millet cultivation through community participation and value addition, highlighting the link between local initiatives and broader development priorities.

Together, the examples presented in Mann Ki Baat have underscored the role of technology, research, and community-led initiatives in India's development, with digital health and telemedicine remaining central to efforts to expand access to healthcare services.
