Zoom Expands AI Clinical Notes Across Video, Phone, and In-Person Visits
The platform aims to reduce clinicians' documentation workload by embedding AI note generation into existing communication workflows, eliminating the need for separate third-party applications.
Zoom has announced enhanced Zoom Clinical Notes, an ambient AI-powered clinical documentation solution designed to generate structured medical notes from in-person, video, and telephone consultations. Announced at Zoomtopia 2026, the solution is powered by Zoom AI and integrates with Zoom Meetings, Zoom Phone, and Zoom Contact Center.
The platform aims to reduce clinicians' documentation workload by embedding AI note generation into existing communication workflows, eliminating the need for separate third-party applications.
According to Zoom, the solution uses its medical automatic speech recognition model and large language model orchestration to convert clinical conversations into structured medical documentation.
Clinical Notes Supports EHR Integration and Medical Coding
Zoom Clinical Notes supports the transfer of generated notes into electronic health record (EHR) systems through REST APIs. Browser extensions for Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge allow clinicians to paste structured clinical summaries directly into browser-based EHR charts.
The solution also offers customizable clinical templates for primary care and behavioral health encounters, with automated suggestions for ICD-10 diagnostic and billing codes.
For multilingual documentation, the platform can transcribe conversations in 10 languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, Korean, and Arabic. It then generates standardized clinical notes in English.
The system supports documentation across multiple care settings, including in-person consultations captured through desktop or mobile microphones, telephone triage calls on Zoom Phone, and virtual visits through Zoom Meetings and Zoom Contact Center.
Developer Access and API Support
Zoom has made the solution available to healthcare application developers through its Meeting SDK for Web. A Clinical Notes API in preview also supports asynchronous processing of recorded encounters through audio file uploads.
Integration support for the Zoom Video SDK is scheduled for commercial release later in 2026, enabling developers to incorporate ambient documentation into their own healthcare applications.
“Healthcare organizations are looking for AI solutions that fit naturally into existing clinical workflows without adding complexity,” said Lijuan Qin, head of product AI at Zoom.
Qin said the solution is designed to streamline care delivery and reduce the time clinicians spend on administrative tasks.
