The projects are also intended to strengthen critical care facilities for the treatment of critically ill patients.

In a move to strengthen healthcare delivery in the state, the Delhi government has announced an INR 503.49 crore investment across five major hospital projects.

The projects developed under the leadership of Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta seek to expand public healthcare capacity across the city.

The proposed investment is aimed at expanding hospital infrastructure and enhancing access to medical services across the national capital. The projects are also intended to strengthen critical care facilities for the treatment of critically ill patients.

The expansion is intended to address demand for public hospital services and improve access to advanced medical facilities for residents of Delhi and neighbouring regions.

Details regarding the five hospitals, including their locations, individual project costs, construction schedules and planned additions to bed capacity, have not been specified in the available reports. Information on proposed intensive care unit (ICU) beds, ventilators, operating theatres and other specialised facilities is also awaited.

The investment announcement comes amid the Delhi government’s ongoing efforts to expand public hospital infrastructure in the national capital.

In an earlier development, the Delhi Cabinet approved an INR 244.87 crore project to construct a 250-bed super-specialty-cum-trauma block at Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital in Dilshad Garden, East Delhi, to expand emergency and critical care capacity amid high patient occupancy.

The project will be developed within the existing hospital campus under Phase IV of the Centre’s Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY), with costs shared by the Central and Delhi governments.
