eSanjeevani Crosses 50 Crore Teleconsultations, Expands Into Specialist Care

eSanjeevani connects more than 1.42 lakh Ayushman Arogya Mandir spokes, 19,473 medical hubs and 901 online OPDs.

India’s national telemedicine service, eSanjeevani, has crossed 50 crore teleconsultations, marking a major milestone in the country’s digital health journey. The platform reached 50,00,92,730 consultations on September 15, 2026, across all 36 States and Union Territories.

eSanjeevani is designed to reduce barriers linked to distance, geography, and access, particularly for people living in rural, remote, and underserved areas, by enabling consultations without requiring patients to travel to a healthcare facility.

eSanjeevani currently connects more than 1.42 lakh Ayushman Arogya Mandir spokes, 19,473 medical hubs, and 901 online OPDs, supported by 2,41,923 registered healthcare providers.

The service is available in 15 languages, including English and 14 Indian languages, and is facilitating around 2.5-3 lakh consultations each day. Its highest single-day utilisation has reached 6,30,315 consultations.

The utilisation data also shows the reach of telemedicine among groups that may face greater challenges in accessing physical healthcare. Women account for 57.14% of eSanjeevani utilisation, while 40.15% of consultations are availed by people aged 46 years and above. Senior citizens aged 60 years and above account for 16.25% of consultations.

Beyond increasing consultation volumes, eSanjeevani has been adding technology and service capabilities. The platform has integrated an AI-powered Clinical Decision Support System (AI-CDSS) to support healthcare providers during consultations and strengthen clinical decision-making.

eSanjeevani has also been integrated with the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS)-112, creating stronger links between emergency response services and remote medical expertise.

At the same time, the platform is moving beyond primary healthcare by enabling specialist OPD teleconsultations through institutions including AIIMS Jodhpur, AIIMS Jammu and AIIMS Patna. The service is expected to expand to institutions such as AIIMS, JIPMER and PGIMER Chandigarh.

Developed by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), with C-DAC Mohali providing technological development and engineering support, eSanjeevani has evolved from a hub-and-spoke telemedicine model into a population-scale digital health platform.
