MediElaj Bets on AI-Powered Health Kiosks to Scale Preventive Care Access across India

MediElaj operates a hybrid system where users can access AI-powered consultations via a mobile app or nearby physical kiosks.

MediElaj, a Haryana-based medtech startup, is preparing to expand its AI-driven hybrid healthcare model beyond its pilot phase, aiming to deploy physical health kiosks across multiple regions in India while scaling its app-based diagnostic services.

Founded with the intent to bridge gaps in early diagnosis and routine health monitoring, the MedTech startup operates a hybrid system where users can access AI-powered consultations via a mobile app or nearby physical kiosks.

These kiosks are designed for high-footfall environments such as pharmacies, public spaces, and institutional campuses, enabling quick and cost-effective health checkups.

Currently, the startup is running its pilot with one kiosk in the National Capital Region, supported by over 100,000 app downloads.

The physical centre is handling more than 200 patients each month, indicating early traction for its asset-light deployment strategy.

MediElaj’s platform offers instant remote diagnosis through an in-built AI doctor, delivering data-backed medical insights and enabling follow-up services through integrated digital health records.

“While there is a significant opportunity in preventive healthcare, driven by rising awareness and the need for quick, accessible diagnostics, there are challenges, including building trust in AI-driven healthcare and encouraging people to shift from reactive to preventive health habits,” said Umesh Khatri, CEO & Co-founder of MediElaj.

MediElaj is targeting a user base of one million within the next one to two years. To support this growth, the bootstrapped startup is exploring a funding round of USD 4-5 Mn, with a mix of equity investment and strategic partnerships.

The capital will be directed toward expanding kiosk deployments, strengthening AI capabilities, and enhancing its technology infrastructure.

The company’s longer-term roadmap includes establishing a presence across Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 cities, with a particular emphasis on underserved regions.

It is also evaluating expansion into emerging markets with similar healthcare access challenges, where its hybrid AI model could be replicated effectively.
