Indian Govt Launches INR 720 Cr Worth Quantum Fabrication Facilities to Propel MedTech Diagnostics

These platforms will be open to NQM’s leading researchers, academic institutions, MedTech manufacturers, industry partners, startups, and key strategic sectors

In a major policy push, the Indian government has announced the creation of four Quantum Fabrication and Central Facilities worth INR 720 crore under the National Quantum Mission (NQM).

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh, announced the establishment of four state-of-the-art Quantum Fabrication and Central Facilities worth INR 720 crore across four facilities, including IIT Bombay, IISc Bengaluru, IIT Kanpur, and IIT Delhi under the National Quantum Mission (NQM).

The facilities are expected to boost quantum-enabled medical technologies and diagnostics development.

Further, the facilities will further accelerate progress in quantum sensing, quantum computing, and quantum materials, required to develop sovereign and secure quantum technologies in India.

Additionally, these platforms will be open for NQM’s leading researchers, academic institutions, MedTech manufacturers, industry partners, startups, and key strategic sectors.

Highlighting the role of the platforms, Union Minister Jitendra Singh said, “These cutting-edge facilities mark a decisive leap in India’s journey toward technological sovereignty, positioning the nation among the select global leaders advancing next-generation quantum technologies.”

“These facilities will empower India to design, fabricate, and scale its own quantum technologies, ushering in an era of sovereign, secure, and world-class scientific innovation,” he added.

He further stated that the INR 720-crore quantum facilities will act as a springboard for India to build globally competitive quantum hardware and will accelerate the nation’s rise toward Prime Minister Modi’s vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047.
