UP Launches State Health Systems Resource Center at SGPGIMS to Boost Healthcare Delivery
The facility will focus on boosting digitalization of hospital records and expanding online healthcare systems in medical colleges and district hospitals.
In a major boost to healthcare delivery in Uttar Pradesh, the government has recently launched the State Health Systems Resource Center (SHSRC-UP) at the Department of Hospital Administration (DoHA), Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS).
The latest center has been led by the State Transformation Commission (STC) in collaboration with SGPGIMS.
The initiative seeks to scale up the state’s healthcare framework by providing technical expertise and institutional support for enhancing service delivery and governance.
The center is intended to ensure the development of equitable and efficient healthcare systems, aligned with the state’s Viksit Uttar Pradesh 2047 vision.
The SHSRC-UP will function as a state-level extension of the National Health Systems Resource Centre (NHSRC), the primary technical think tank under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.
In addition, the Center will work closely with the STC to ensure seamless integration of policy, planning, and on-ground implementation across different levels of healthcare delivery.
Further, the facility will focus on accelerating the digitisation of hospital records and expanding online healthcare systems while strengthening systems to ensure the availability of quality medicines and support cost-effective healthcare delivery in medical colleges and district hospitals.
Reportedly, the establishment of the Center follows the approval of a comprehensive proposal developed by Dr Rajesh Harsvardhan, the professor of Hospital Administration at SGPGIMS and also the Project Head of SHSRC-UP.
Commenting on the launch, Dr Harsvardhan said, “This initiative marks a new chapter in Uttar Pradesh’s journey toward becoming a model for healthcare excellence in the nation, and the State Health Systems Resource Centre is poised to be at the forefront of this transformation.”
As per reports an official inauguration by Manoj Kumar Singh, CEO of the State Transformation Commission, is expected to take place in the coming weeks.
