IIT Kharagpur Signs MoU with Charnock Hospital to Boost Healthcare Research & Innovation
The partnership seeks to support and accelerate the transition of advanced research into real-world healthcare solutions by integrating IIT Kharagpur’s advanced research capabilities with Charnock Hospital’s clinical ecosystem.
Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, has partnered up with Charnock Hospital to boost innovation, research, and technological advancements in the healthcare sector.
The collaboration was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in the presence of Suman Chakraborty, Director, IIT Kharagpur, and Prashant Sharma, Managing Director of Charnock Hospital.
The collaboration aims to bridge the gap between advanced healthcare research and its practical implementation in clinical settings.
The partnership seeks to support and accelerate the transition of advanced research into real-world healthcare solutions by integrating IIT Kharagpur’s advanced research capabilities with Charnock Hospital’s clinical ecosystem.
Under the partnership, both institutions will focus on validating and benchmarking diagnostic and digital health technologies developed by IIT Kharagpur.
The collaboration shall also include AI and ML-driven clinical data analytics.
joint research and training initiatives for clinicians and engineers, and the rapid deployment of innovations in clinical and community healthcare settings.
Through the partnership, the institutions aim to build a scalable healthcare model tailored to the needs of the urban underprivileged community.
Highlighting the new partnership, Prof. Suman Chakraborty said. “The main purpose of the collaboration is to make healthcare accessible to the underprivileged living in the urban areas. We are all bothered about rural health care. But we seem to be least concerned about the health care of the urban poor. Through the tie-up with Charnock Hospital, we intend to make our technology in health care affordable and available to the urban poor through some mobile and stationary units in the slum areas. The units will also be visiting the schools of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation.”
