The government recently introduced Aarogya Setu 2.0 as a citizen-facing application under ABDM, bringing together multiple digital health services on a single platform.
India's digital health ecosystem has reached a new milestone, with more than 104 crore health records now linked to over 93 crore ABHA accounts.
The growing network enables patients to carry their medical history digitally across ABDM-enabled facilities, reducing paperwork while allowing healthcare providers to access previous records after obtaining patient consent.
The ecosystem has continued to expand beyond digital health records. The government recently introduced Aarogya Setu 2.0 as a citizen-facing application under ABDM, bringing together multiple digital health services on a single platform.
Users can create ABHA accounts, manage personal health records, book teleconsultations and in-person appointments, access insurance information, discover nearby healthcare facilities and monitor health through wearable device integration.
ABDM has also improved patient registration at hospitals through the National Health Authority's Scan and Share service.
The QR code-based system allows patients to generate digital queue tokens using their ABHA details, significantly reducing waiting times during outpatient registration.
As of June, more than 23.21 crore ABHA-linked digital tokens had been generated through the service.
To encourage wider adoption, the government has introduced financial incentives for healthcare providers joining the ABDM ecosystem.
Official data shows that hospitals have received over INR 107 Cr under the Digital Health Incentive Scheme, while diagnostic centres, laboratories and pharmacies have received more than INR 2.95 Cr.
Digital solution companies have also received incentives exceeding INR 26 Cr for enabling interoperable digital health services.
The mission is also supporting the digital transformation of smaller healthcare providers.
More than 2,200 healthcare facilities have been onboarded onto eSushrut@Clinic, a lightweight hospital management information system developed by C-DAC to help clinics digitise patient records, billing and administrative workflows.
Beyond improving healthcare delivery, ABDM is laying the foundation for data-driven public health planning.
The mission follows a consent-based and privacy-by-design framework, with health records remaining with the originating healthcare provider and shared only with patient approval.
