Madhya Pradesh Deploys Digital Health Systems to Strengthen Last-Mile Healthcare

Shukla has directed health officials to focus on the effective implementation of digital systems in the identified model districts and institutions.

Madhya Pradesh is advancing the use of Digital Health Systems to improve access to healthcare in remote areas, with model districts and institutions expected to develop practices that can be scaled across the state.

Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla has said the state aims to use digital platforms to make healthcare delivery more accessible, transparent and citizen-centric, particularly at the last mile.

The initiative is being driven through the Model District and Model Health Institution programme under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM).

Speaking at a state-level workshop in Bhopal, Shukla said the selected districts and institutions should serve as testing grounds for effective digital health practices that can eventually be replicated across Madhya Pradesh.

"Digital health services can ensure that people living in the remotest parts of the state get easy access to quality and advanced healthcare. This should be our collective goal," the Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla said.

Shukla has directed health officials to focus on the effective implementation of digital systems in the identified model districts and institutions.

He stressed that the initiative should go beyond technology adoption and contribute to a wider transformation in how healthcare services are delivered.

Telemedicine will also be an important part of this approach, particularly for rural communities where patients may need to travel long distances for medical consultations. Shukla called for its more effective use to bring medical expertise closer to people.

"Selected model districts and health institutions should develop effective practices that can be replicated across Madhya Pradesh to strengthen the state's digital health system," the Deputy CM said.

The workshop also recognised districts and institutions for their performance under ABDM.

Jabalpur, Gwalior, Indore and Satna were honoured for ABHA ID generation, while Bhopal District Hospital and Index Medical College and Hospital in Indore were recognised for token generation.

Jabalpur District Hospital and AIIMS Bhopal received recognition for digital health record filing.

According to Ayushman Bharat Yojana (Madhya Pradesh) CEO Arvind Shah, the state had generated more than 5.9 crore ABHA IDs as of August 2026.

Over 20,444 health institutions are registered on the Health Facility Registry, while 19,274 healthcare professionals are listed in the Health Professional Registry.
