In 2019, India’s National Digital Health Blueprint (NDHB) proposed something far more ambitious than simply putting healthcare records online. It envisioned an ecosystem built around interoperability, open standards, digital identities, registries, consent and privacy, —an architecture in which different parts of the health system could communicate without having to become one centralised system. That distinction is important today. The NDHB was not designed merely to digitise healthcare. It was designed to connect it.
