India’s Digital health journey is expected to take a leap following the discussion that took place in the recent event of "Developing a digital health ecosystem for integrated person-centered care: Lessons from implementing Digital Health Blueprints in the region," co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka on the sidelines of the 78th Session of WHO SEARO.

The discussion of the event highlighted the growing importance of digital healthcare transformation in achieving accessible, affordable, and citizen-centric care across the region.

During the event, Kiran Gopal Vasaka, JS & MD (ABDM), National Health Authority (NHA), showcased India’s digital health journey under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, which has enabled a seamless, secure, and patient-centric healthcare.

While reiterating India’s commitment to sharing ABDM learnings and technological frameworks with neighboring countries to strengthen regional collaboration, Vasaka said that ABDM has transformed the way healthcare data is exchanged through interoperable health records and digital platforms.

Adding to this, Anupriya Patel, Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, also highlighted India’s digital health transformation through the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission while commending WHO’s leadership in advancing global digital health.

She further offered India’s learnings and platforms to countries to encourage and promote collaboration at the community and global levels for citizen-centric, accessible, and affordable healthcare.

Meanwhile, in another development, the NHA also hosted an event in Madhya Pradesh to strengthen the implementation of Ayushman Bharat and plan a roadmap for the PMJAY 2.0 and ABDM 2.0.

The event focused on building a stronger scheme delivery, showcasing best practices in fraud control, zero pendency, and digital healthcare.

Dr. Sunil Barnwal, CEO, NHA, who had addressed the event, urged outlining the roadmap for PM-JAY 2.0 and ABDM 2.0. He emphasised the need for collaboration, innovation, and digital public infrastructure as key enablers of accessible and equitable healthcare.

Highlighting the significance of Ayushman Bharat, he said, “Ayushman Bharat, with its four strong pillars, has benefited over 45 crore people. To accelerate progress, leadership of State & UT Health Authorities in digital integration and innovation will be key to making it the world’s largest transformative health scheme.”
