Govt of India Sanctions INR 311 Cr AIIMS-Like Super-Speciality Hospital in Mandya
The hospital is expected to provide 24×7 emergency care, trauma services, and specialized treatment for conditions such as cancer and cardiac diseases.
The Government of India has approved the proposal to establish a new super specialty hospital on the lines of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Mandya district of Karnataka.
The approval was granted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY).
The proposal, with an estimated cost of INR 311 crore, aims to strengthen access to advanced medical services in the district and nearby regions
The approval follows a proposal put forward by Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel, H.D. Kumaraswamy, MP of Mandya.
Reportedly, the authorities have proposed that around 10 acres of land be allocated by the State Government adjacent to the Mysuru-Bengaluru Highway, with the hospital planned to be situated between Mandya and Maddur.
Moreover, building a high-tech facility on the premises of the existing Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences (MIMS) is also on the cards, which seeks to boost future expansion and modernization of healthcare services.
The new hospital is designed to serve patients not only from Mandya district but also from neighbouring regions such as Tumakuru and Ramanagar.
Further, the super specialty hospital is expected to offer a range of round-the-clock medical services similar to those provided at established AIIMS institutions, which include 24×7 emergency care, trauma services, and specialized treatment for conditions such as cancer and cardiac diseases.
