CHARAKA, Telemedicine Society of India Sign MoU to Strengthen Digital Health & Telemedicine

CHARAKA seeks to translate the collaboration into practical initiatives that can support Karnataka’s medical community.

The Centre of Excellence for HealthTech, MedTech & Assistive Technologies (CHARAKA), an initiative of the Department of Electronics, IT& BT, Government of Karnataka, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Telemedicine Society (TSI) of India to boost Digital Health and telemedicine.

As part of this collaboration, both the organisations will work together on capacity building through events and courses, fellowships, and internship opportunities.

The organisations will also explore initiatives to strengthen the wider telemedicine and digital health ecosystem across the state.

In addition, the partnership includes plans for hackathons to encourage healthcare professionals to develop technology-driven solutions for healthcare challenges.

Furthermore, the organisations will also support mentoring programmes to help innovators refine ideas and progress them beyond the conceptual stage.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Dr Bhaskar Rajakumar, CEO, Centre of Excellence in HealthTech & MedTech, Government of Karnataka; Dr Uma Nambiar, Vice President, TSI; and Dr Umashankar S, Honorary Secretary, TSI, along with healthcare leaders, innovators, and industry stakeholders.

The latest initiative forms part of CHARAKA’s ongoing efforts to scale healthcare innovation in Karnataka while supporting the deployment of technology-enabled solutions in Karnataka.

Earlier this month, CHARAKA signed a joint MoU with Karnataka’s Top three academic and technology institutes to strengthen healthcare innovation and facilitate the deployment of technology solutions in healthcare settings.

The partnership aims to build structured pathways for innovators to develop, validate, and scale impactful healthcare technologies.

The partnership with TSI adds a specific focus on telemedicine and digital health, bringing together capacity building, innovation, and ecosystem development.

In a recent development, Digital Health News (DHN), India's top dedicated digital health intelligence and knowledge platform, and the Telemedicine Society of India (TSI) have signed an MoU during the DHN City Meetup Kochi.

The partnership seeks to deepen engagement across India’s evolving healthcare landscape while strengthening India’s digital health and telemedicine ecosystem.
