KIMS Nagpur Launches Central India's First Hybrid Cathlab to Strengthen Cardiac Surgical Capabilities
The system combines AI-enabled advanced imaging, three-dimensional visualisation and image-fusion capabilities to support complex minimally invasive procedures.
KIMS Kingsway Hospitals, Nagpur, has installed the Wipro GE Allia 540 Hybrid Cathlab for vascular surgery and endovascular interventions.
The hospital describes the installation as Central India's first hybrid cathlab intended to strengthen cardiac surgical capabilities.
The system combines AI-enabled advanced imaging, three-dimensional visualisation, and image-fusion capabilities to support complex minimally invasive procedures.
Core Capabilities
The Allia system features a 41 × 41 cm large-area detector and AI-enabled imaging designed to deliver high-quality images at optimised radiation doses, with advanced radiation safety for patients and staff.
It also incorporates radiation-safety features for patients and healthcare professionals.
The system includes cone-beam computed tomography (CT), which enables three-dimensional visualisation of anatomical structures during procedures. Its CT/MRI image-fusion capabilities allow clinicians to combine previously acquired imaging with live procedural images.
These functions are expected to support complex endovascular procedures, including endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) and thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR).
Additional features include a 55-inch FlexVision medical-grade monitor and an extended-length tilting OT table designed to enhance visualisation and patient positioning.
Accordingly, the installation is aimed at expanding the hospital’s imaging and procedural capabilities for specialised vascular and endovascular care, supporting precision-guided interventions and enhanced procedural safety in Central India.
The latest development follows an earlier memorandum of understanding between KIMS and Wipro GE Healthcare for medical technology procurement valued at up to INR 700 Cr over three years.
The agreement covers equipment procurement and servicing across KIMS' existing 12 hospitals and four upcoming facilities. The planned procurement includes PET-CT and SPECT-CT systems, cath labs, MRI scanners, CT scanners, ultrasound systems, and critical care equipment.
Under the agreement, Wipro GE Healthcare will serve as a medical technology partner for the KIMS hospital network.
