MDX Hawai’i Selects Innovaccer’s Atlas Platform for 6,000 Clinicians
The deployment will cover more than 1,000 primary care providers, mid-level clinicians, and pediatricians, alongside approximately 5,000 specialists and 200 healthcare facilities and ancillary partners.
MDX Hawai’i has selected Innovaccer as its enterprise technology partner to deploy the Atlas platform across its network of more than 6,000 clinicians, aiming to unify population health management, cost-of-care analytics, and quality reporting across independent medical practices in Hawaii.
The deployment will cover more than 1,000 primary care providers, mid-level clinicians, and pediatricians, alongside approximately 5,000 specialists and 200 healthcare facilities and ancillary partners.
MDX Hawai’i, an independent practice association (IPA) and management services organization (MSO), connects community healthcare providers with commercial and Medicare health plans. The organization has operated across the Hawaiian Islands for four decades.
Unified Population Health and Cost Analytics
Innovaccer’s Atlas platform will consolidate multi-payer claims and clinical data into standardized dashboards, enabling participating providers to monitor healthcare utilization, treatment costs, emergency department visits, specialty drug spending, and hospital readmission trends.
The platform will also support patient attribution across different payer contracts, reducing reliance on separate health plan portals and manual claims reporting.
For quality management, Atlas will standardize performance metrics across commercial and Medicare Advantage contracts. It will help clinicians identify Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS) care gaps and Hierarchical Condition Category (HCC) documentation requirements within clinical workflows.
Phased Deployment Across Provider Networks
The initial implementation will focus on network-wide utilization reporting, provider performance benchmarking, and establishing baseline analytics.
Subsequent phases are expected to introduce automated care management workflows, post-discharge care coordination, and electronic health record (EHR) integration to support clinical decision-making at the point of care.
MDX Hawai’i works with multiple health plans and value-based care programs, including UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage, Devoted Health, Pearl Health, Aetna, and Cigna.
Rudy R. Marilla, President of MDX Hawai’i, said the partnership would provide independent physicians with analytical capabilities comparable to those available within larger health systems.
He added that the organization intends to reduce administrative workloads while improving visibility into patients managed under value-based care contracts.
Addressing Healthcare Access Challenges in Hawaii
The deployment comes amid healthcare workforce shortages, geographic barriers, and administrative pressures affecting independent practices across Hawaii.
These challenges are particularly pronounced on neighboring islands, where limited access to physicians and specialists can require patients to travel between islands for medical consultations.
By consolidating clinical and financial information across its provider network, MDX Hawai’i plans to improve care coordination and support independent practices participating in value-based healthcare arrangements.
