CHARAKA Inks MoU with Bengaluru’s Top Academic & Tech Institutes to Boost Healthcare Innovation

The collaboration seeks technology developers to identify key challenges and develop technology-driven solutions to foster healthcare innovation.

The Centre of Excellence for HealthTech, MedTech & Assistive Technologies (CHARAKA), under the Government of Karnataka, has signed a joint Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with three academic and technology institutes to strengthen healthcare innovation and support real-world deployment.

The partner institutions include Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences, Vokkaligara Sanga Dental College and Hospital, and Bangalore Institute of Technology.

The collaboration aims to foster healthcare innovation from the college level by bringing together clinical problem owners and technology developers to identify key challenges and develop technology-driven healthcare solutions.

The partnership is intended to build structured pathways for innovators to develop, validate, and scale impactful healthcare technologies.

A key initiative under the partnership is the proposed establishment of a Medical College Incubation Centre.

The centre is intended to support students and faculty members in identifying healthcare needs and challenges, developing ideas, and accessing expert mentorship and guidance.

In addition, the initiative is expected to support innovators in developing and testing prototypes and transforming promising ideas into startups with the potential for wider healthcare adoption.

By connecting emerging innovations with healthcare institutions and technology ecosystems, the partnership aims to bridge the gap between academic innovation and market deployment, taking ideas from classrooms to clinics.

CHARAKA has further expanded this academic innovation network through its recent partnership with the Presidency School of Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Computing (PSAIAC), Presidency University, Bengaluru.

The two institutions have signed an MoU establishing a collaborative framework for joint research and innovation across HealthTech, MedTech, Digital Health, Public Health, Environmental Health, One Health, and Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare.

The latest development is built on CHARAKA’s efforts to enhance the healthcare innovation ecosystem in Karnataka,

In a separate development, CHARAKA partnered with Blockchain For Impact (BFI) to strengthen mentorship, policy and regulatory support, joint incubation, and healthcare-institution engagement. The partnership aimed to explore district-level innovation sandboxes for testing and validating solutions in real-world settings.
