Aultman Deploys Nabla’s Ambient AI within Oracle Cerner EHR to Enhance Clinical Workflow

Ohio-based Aultman Health System has announced the integration of Nabla’s ambient artificial intelligence (AI) technology directly into its Oracle Cerner electronic health record (EHR) platform.

The initiative is aimed at enabling clinicians across Aultman’s Northeast Ohio network to document patient encounters more efficiently and accurately.

The integration, completed in under 60 days, embeds the AI assistant natively into the Oracle Cerner workflow, allowing clinicians to record patient information without switching screens or making duplicate entries.

The AI tool generates structured clinical notes that are entered into the EHR in real time before the patient visit concludes, reducing after-hours documentation and improving data accuracy.

By capturing patient encounters as they occur, the system aims to reduce after-hours documentation, commonly referred to as “pajama time,” which is expected to enhance the accuracy and completeness of clinical records.

Further, the native integration has also supported rapid scaling, allowing Aultman to expand the solution from initial deployment to system-wide use across multiple specialties, including oncology, surgery, and urology, within a short timeframe

In addition, Nbla’s ambient AI adapts to the clinicians' preferred documentation structures, automatically includes relevant diagnosis codes, and provides reminders for important discussion points during complex visits.

This level of personalization is intended to improve workflow consistency while allowing clinicians to remain focused on patient care rather than administrative tasks.

Highlighting the significance of the integration, Steven Kelly, M.D., president of Aultman Hospital and chief medical officer for Aultman Health System, said, "With Nabla embedded in Oracle Cerner, our clinicians can stay fully present with patients while documentation happens seamlessly in the background. It's helping us reduce administrative burden, improve note accuracy, and give clinicians more time for meaningful patient interactions."

According to reports, the deployment has shown early results, such as clinicians saving between 30 and 60 minutes per day on documentation.

Some providers reported they could see three to five additional patients daily after adopting the technology, as time previously spent on charting is redirected to face-to-face patient care and complex case preparation

Commenting on the new partnership, Alex Lebrun, co-founder and CEO of Nabla, said, "Our collaboration shows that large health systems can move quickly when technology truly meets clinical needs. We're committed to that responsiveness, listening to feedback, refining features, and ensuring that every update makes Nabla even more valuable to the clinicians who rely on it."
