APHI & Star Health Strike Deal to Restore Cashless Services from October 10
AHPI and Star Health agree to reinstate cashless facilities from October 10 and resolve tariff issues by October 31
The Association of Healthcare Providers of India (AHPI) and Star Health and Allied Insurance have announced the restoration of cashless services across all AHPI member hospitals, effective October 10, 2025.
AHPI and Star Health are also committed to resolving all the pending issues, including tariff revisions, by October 31.
The move brings relief to patients after weeks of uncertainty following AHPI’s earlier advisory to suspend cashless facilities from September 22.
According to a joint statement issued from New Delhi and Chennai on September 21, the resolution was reached after intensive negotiations between the two parties.
Both organisations agreed to prioritize patient welfare, revoke the suspension directive, and ensure uninterrupted access to healthcare.
To avoid similar disputes in the future, AHPI will support the creation of an industry-wide group of healthcare leaders and insurers tasked with developing a long-term agreement framework.
According to. Girdhar Gyani, Director General of AHPI, said the decision would ease the burden on patients and their families, adding that the association remains committed to fostering a patient-centric healthcare ecosystem.
Star Health Insurance MD & CEO Anand Roy also said, reaffirming the insurer’s focus on ensuring seamless, affordable, and accessible healthcare for its policyholders.
The announcement comes after several leading hospitals, including Manipal Hospitals in Delhi and Gurugram, Max Hospitals in North India, Medanta in Lucknow, and Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Hospital in New Delhi, were impacted by the suspension, leaving patients in distress.
