Officials said ADB has cleared Rs 2,800 crore for Medico City near RINPAS, which will house 12 super-specialty hospitals

In a major move, the Jharkhand government has announced the launch of the latest Medico City to be built for a whopping sum of INR 2800 Crore.

As per reports, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved financial assistance of INR 2,800 Cr for the ambitious Medico City project in Ranchi, Jharkhand.

Planned near the Ranchi Institute of Neuro-Psychiatry and Allied Sciences (RINPAS), the project will feature 12 super-specialty hospitals offering advanced care for heart, kidney, liver, and other critical diseases under one roof.

Health Minister hailed the initiative as a historic milestone for Jharkhand’s healthcare sector, stating that Medico City will curb the need for patients to travel outside for treatment of critical illnesses.

The project will focus on human resource development, also outlining regional medical centers, pharmacy, nursing, and paramedical colleges, alongside medical and nursing education, district-level modernization, digital health systems, and rural outreach.

Designed with green building technology and telemedicine facilities, Medico City will incorporate public-private partnership models in line with sustainable development goals.

Meanwhile, in a parallel development, Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) has approved 15 proposals, including enhanced stipends for MBBS and BDS students, creation of new faculty posts, purchase of a blood mobile transportation van, and plans for infrastructure upgrades.

RIMS is a medical school located in Ranchi. It provides free medical services along with medicines. Developments in the field of surgery include minimal access, cosmetically sound surgery.

The health department confirmed that the tendering process for Medico City will begin soon to fast-track implementation.
