Under the agreement, RGCIRC will utilize Canon’s Aquilion ONE/INSIGHT Edition, a 640-slice CT system, for research on advanced cancer diagnostics. Canon Medical Systems India Pvt. Ltd. has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute & Research Centre (RGCIRC) to advance cancer diagnostics research.

Under the agreement, RGCIRC will utilize Canon’s Aquilion ONE/INSIGHT Edition, a 640-slice CT system, for research on advanced cancer diagnostics. The system integrates wide-area (16-cm) CT coverage with deep learning-based AI to support clinical decision-making.

Koh Yamada, president and CEO of Canon Medical Systems India Pvt Ltd, said, “At Canon, we are committed to improving patient care through innovative technology based on the ‘Made for Life’ philosophy. We are very honoured to be contributing to support healthcare in India with this great opportunity given by Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute & Research Centre.”

The Aquilion ONE/INSIGHT Edition leverages AI technologies, including Precise IQ Engine (PIQE), Advanced intelligent Clear-IQ Engine (AiCE), SilverBeam, and the INSTINX platform. PIQE enhances image clarity to delineate small anatomical structures, while AiCE with SilverBeam allows high-quality chest CT scans at reduced doses. INSTINX supports automated scan planning and anatomical landmark detection to streamline imaging workflow.

Dr. Sunil Kumar Puri, director, radiology & interventional oncology of RGCIRC, added, “We are pleased and excited to be the first center in India to work with this new system, and we trust this innovative system will bring significant contributions for cancer diagnosis and improve our diagnostic confidence in the results.”
