AP Govt Announces Digital Systems to Streamline Medical Bill Reimbursement
The initiative is designed to support the transition of the existing reimbursement process into a completely paperless and integrated digital workflow, reducing delays and improving transparency.
The Government of Andhra Pradesh is set to introduce new medical reforms with fully digital medical bill reimbursements for employees and pensioners, with the initiative being overseen by the state’s Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav.
The proposed system aimed at reducing delays and eliminating the need for employees and pensioners to visit multiple offices for claim settlements.
The initiative is designed to support the transition of the existing reimbursement process into a completely paperless and integrated digital workflow, reducing delays and improving transparency.
The new system, being developed by the Andhra Pradesh Centre for Financial Systems and Services, will digitise the entire workflow. It will be integrated with the existing Nidhi portal, which already holds detailed employee records.
Once implemented, claims will move seamlessly from submission to approval and final payment through a single online platform.
According to the Health Minister, Satya Kumar Yadav, the initiatives are being deployed following the directions of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
He emphasized that the new system will ensure a hassle-free experience for employees by streamlining procedures and minimizing manual intervention.
The health minister further noted that the government intends to complete the hospital onboarding and related formalities by April 30.
Under the proposed framework, hospitals providing treatment will directly upload medical bills and records to the Dr. NTR Vaidya Seva Trust through a dedicated login facility.
Following the medical scrutiny by experts at the Trust, the approved bills will be forwarded to the respective Head of Department (HoD) for administrative sanction, and subsequently to the Drawing and Disbursing Officer (DDO) for payment processing through the online portal.
Currently, the state has over 5.55 lakh employees and 2.32 lakh pensioners covered under the Employees Health Scheme (EHS), with a total of around 24.33 lakh beneficiaries, including dependents.
Reportedly, in the 2024–25 financial year, the government approved medical reimbursement claims worth INR 232 crore.
The new framework aims to scale up the reimbursement process and forms part of the state government’s broader initiative to strengthen digital healthcare services.
