Andhra Pradesh CM Unveils ‘One AI Doctor per Person’ Model

The initiative seeks to leverage AI in monitoring chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease, send medication reminders, flag abnormal parameters in real time, suggest preventive measures to maintain health and lifestyle, and assist doctors in diagnostics.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has proposed a “one AI doctor per person” model aimed at deploying artificial intelligence to transform healthcare monitoring and delivery across the state.

The proposal was shared during discussions on strengthening healthcare services through the use of emerging technologies and envisages to deploy AI-powered digital health assistant for every resident of the state.

Highlighting the growing role of artificial intelligence in transforming sectors such as healthcare, governance, and public service delivery, CM Naidu said, “If required, we are prepared to provide one AI doctor for each person in Andhra Pradesh. This can be a game changer.”

According to Naidu, the initiative seeks to leverage AI to monitor chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease, send medication reminders, flag abnormal parameters in real time, suggest preventive measures to maintain health and lifestyle, and assist doctors with diagnostics.

The AI system is further expected to bridge healthcare access gaps in remote areas where doctor-to-patient ratios and healthcare infrastructure remain limited.

The AI system shall be designed to provide 24/7 digital health support and facilitate continuous monitoring, which is expected to reduce the burden on government hospitals, while enabling frontline health workers with AI-backed decision-making tools and minimizing hospital visits.

Through integration with primary health centers and digital health records, the state aims to expand access to quality healthcare services across rural and semi-urban areas.

In parallel, Andhra Pradesh has strengthened its collaboration with the Gates Foundation to accelerate AI-driven Healthcare reforms, expand digital health infrastructure, and strengthen predictive public health systems.

The collaboration aligns with Chief Minister Naidu’s “Healthy Andhra Pradesh” vision and aims to scale AI-enabled healthcare solutions statewide.
