Walmart Expands Better Care Services Through General Medicine Partnership
Walmart plans to expand the provider network over time, giving customers access to a broader range of healthcare services through a single digital interface.
Walmart has expanded its Better Care Services platform through a partnership with healthcare startup General Medicine, introducing a digital marketplace where consumers can browse healthcare services, compare providers, and review potential costs with or without insurance.
The expanded platform aims to simplify access to care by bringing multiple healthcare options into one place.
Walmart launched Better Care Services in January 2026 as a digital healthcare network offering virtual urgent care and behavioural health consultations.
The latest expansion builds on that offering by integrating General Medicine’s healthcare-store infrastructure, transforming the platform from a provider directory into a marketplace featuring more than 900 products and services.
The expanded Better Care Services platform includes virtual urgent care from multiple providers, in-person urgent care through Solv, laboratory tests, and telemedicine services covering primary care, chronic disease management, mental health, and care coordination. Customers can also explore paediatric care, nutrition services, and weight-management support.
The marketplace combines services from General Medicine with offerings from more than 10 existing third-party healthcare providers.
“At Walmart, we’re always looking for ways to make the customer experience simpler and more useful,” said Ralph Clare, executive vice president, Health & Wellness, Walmart U.S. “Expanding Better Care Services brings more care options into one place, helping customers explore what’s available, compare choices, and take the next step in a way that works for them.”
Walmart plans to expand the provider network over time, giving customers access to a broader range of healthcare services through a single digital interface.
Through the updated experience, customers can compare available services based on location, cost, availability, and personal preferences.
The platform also provides estimated out-of-pocket expenses based on individual insurance information, alongside cash prices where available. Customers can then access the booking or fulfilment options offered for their selected services.
The expanded Better Care Services platform is accessible through Walmart.com, the Walmart mobile app, and Sparky, the retailer’s conversational AI shopping assistant.
Walmart is responsible for the customer-facing experience, while General Medicine supplies the underlying technology that connects healthcare services with coverage information and estimated costs.
General Medicine also manages customer accounts and information separately from Walmart’s retail business.
“Healthcare needs a store,” said TJ Parker, CEO of General Medicine. “We’re building the care catalog that makes options easier to understand, compare, and buy. Walmart is an important partner in bringing that vision to life, showing how a more shoppable healthcare experience can meet customers where they already turn for everyday needs.”
Founded in 2023, General Medicine operates a nationwide healthcare marketplace covering medications, laboratory services, telehealth, specialist electronic consultations, and select in-person visits and procedures. The partnership expands Walmart’s digital healthcare offerings as the retailer continues to focus on affordability and access to care.
