The latest round brings General Medicine’s total funding to $152 million, following a $32 million funding round announced a year earlier.

General Medicine has raised $120 million in Series B funding led by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), with participation from Matrix, VXI Capital, Eli Lilly and Company, Mercy Health through Granger Management, and BoxGroup. The funding will be used to expand the company’s digital healthcare marketplace and add more categories of care.

The latest round brings General Medicine’s total funding to $152 million, following a $32 million funding round announced a year earlier.

Founded by the team behind PillPack and Amazon Pharmacy, General Medicine operates an online healthcare marketplace where consumers can search, compare, and purchase healthcare services. The platform provides access to prescriptions, laboratory testing, telehealth, and select in-person visits and procedures, while displaying insurance and cash-pay pricing.

The company currently offers more than 2,900 products and services across medications, labs, telehealth, and in-person care. It plans to expand the catalog into imaging and a broader range of outpatient procedures.

General Medicine said it has attracted hundreds of thousands of customers across all 50 states and nearly every US county, including people covered by commercial insurance, Medicare and Medicaid.

According to the company, about 83% of users said the platform helped them address a healthcare need they had previously delayed, while one-third had postponed care for more than six months.

The platform is built around a standardized healthcare product catalog designed to connect consumer needs with clinical, insurance, and provider systems. Customers can access care through direct shopping, clinician consultations or an AI chat interface. When clinical review is required, a licensed clinician determines the appropriate care, according to the company.

General Medicine also provides consumers with side-by-side insurance and cash pricing to help them compare costs before choosing care. The company said it collects an average of 11 years of health history for each customer and presents clinicians with a prioritized summary during care.

Eli Lilly and Mercy Health are among the healthcare-sector participants in the funding round. General Medicine said its relationship with Lilly aligns around direct-to-consumer healthcare, while its partnership with Mercy Health could support connections between digital healthcare services and traditional in-person care.

The company is led by CEO and co-founder TJ Parker, PillPack co-founder Elliot Cohen, who serves as president, and former Amazon executive Ashwin Muralidharan, who is chief product officer.
