VS Hospitals Launches Advanced Robotic-Assisted Knee Replacement Facility in Chennai

The VELYS system offers surgeons real-time insights, CT-free imaging, and precise implant alignment.

Chennai-based multispecialty hospital VS Hospitals has unveiled the VELYS Robotic-Assisted Solution, a next-generation robotic-assisted knee replacement unit, at its Kilpauk campus, aiming to deliver more precise and personalized joint surgery.

The VELYS system offers surgeons real-time insights, CT-free imaging, and precise implant alignment. The system also leverages optical tracking and guided instrumentation to ensure accurate bone preparation and enhance the overall surgical outcome.

Commenting on the launch, Prof. Dr. S. Sundar, Medical Director and Robotic Arthroplasty Surgeon, VS Hospitals, said, “The VELYS system is a transformative advancement in knee replacement care. It provides detailed, real-time information on knee alignment and soft-tissue balance, enabling surgeons to make informed decisions throughout the procedure. The CT-free workflow reduces costs, preparation time, and radiation exposure, ultimately contributing to faster recovery and reduced post-operative pain.”

“The knee is one of the most complex and heavily used joints in the human body. With innovations like robotic-assisted systems, we can offer our patients more accurate procedures, improved outcomes, and a faster return to their daily activities,” he further explained.

Additionally, the hospital’s orthopedic and arthroplasty unit includes services such as knee and hip replacement, revision procedures, and tumor-related orthopedic interventions. The facility also houses imaging services, physiotherapy, and rehabilitation support.
