The Chief Minister also inaugurated medical infrastructure and equipment worth INR 139.47 Cr, covering new patient wards, hospital buildings, and diagnostic facilities across the state.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay has launched Nalam TN, a statewide digital health platform that combines AI-powered WhatsApp outpatient registration, online appointment booking, and transparent hospital donations into a single system.
The initiative has also been accompanied by new healthcare infrastructure and the appointment of over 2,100 healthcare professionals.
Nalam TN enables patients to register for outpatient consultations by sending "Hi" to an AI-powered WhatsApp chatbot on 9619222999, allowing them to avoid physical registration queues at government hospitals.
The platform, available through www.nalam.tn.gov.in, is currently operating on a pilot basis across 22 districts, including Chennai and Chengalpattu.
Beyond appointment booking, Nalam TN also allows individuals, businesses, alumni, and corporate organisations to make transparent contributions to government hospitals.
Through the platform, donors can directly sponsor medical equipment or support infrastructure improvements at hospitals of their choice under the Tamil Nadu Health Foundation's Social Responsibility Fund initiative.
Alongside the digital platform launch, the Chief Minister inaugurated medical infrastructure and equipment worth INR 139.47 Cr, covering new patient wards, hospital buildings, and diagnostic facilities across the state.
He also handed over appointment orders to 2,144 newly recruited healthcare personnel, comprising 751 Assistant Medical Officers and 1,393 Health Inspectors (Grade II) selected through the Medical Services Recruitment Board.
Addressing the gathering, Health Minister K. G. Arunraj described the launch as an important milestone for Tamil Nadu's healthcare system and urged healthcare workers to place compassion at the centre of patient care.
