Hyundai Backs Critical Care Upgrade at Chennai Govt Hospital with INR 3.07 Cr Investment

Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF), the corporate social responsibility arm of Hyundai Motor India, has invested INR 3.07 Cr to enhance the Intensive Surgical Care Unit at Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital (RGGGH) in Chennai.
HMIF has equipped the hospital with 169 advanced critical care devices under its Sparsh Sanjeevani initiative while also providing installation, commissioning and hands-on training for healthcare professionals.
The equipment includes ICU beds, ventilators, defibrillators, multiparameter patient monitors and an ultrasound machine.
The initiative is intended to improve the hospital's critical care capabilities, enabling clinicians to respond more efficiently to emergencies and provide better monitoring and treatment for patients requiring intensive medical attention.
Healthcare remains one of the foundation's priority focus areas through its Sparsh Sanjeevani programme, which works with government health institutions to improve hospital infrastructure, strengthen critical care services and expand access to quality healthcare.
The initiative currently operates across 16 states through Mobile Medical Units and telemedicine centres, extending healthcare access to underserved communities.
In Tamil Nadu, HMIF has previously supported public health facilities in Cuddalore district by providing Advanced Life Support ambulances, critical care equipment and two Mobile Medical Units.
More recently, Hyundai Motor India also announced the Hyundai Hope for Cancer programme in partnership with IIT Madras to establish India's first community-focused cancer tissue biobank.
The initiative aims to contribute to the Bharat Cancer Genome Atlas while improving access to cancer research and treatment for economically vulnerable patients, reflecting the company's broader focus on strengthening India's healthcare ecosystem beyond hospital infrastructure alone.
