Haryana To Accelerate Digital Healthcare Adoption Under ABDM

Speaking at a state-level workshop in Gurugram on the ABDM Model District and Health Institutions, Misra said digital health should go beyond registering healthcare institutions and creating digital identities, and should translate into more seamless and coordinated patient care.

Haryana is set to accelerate the adoption of digital healthcare systems under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), with the state focusing on interoperability, wider participation and improved patient access to healthcare services, Health and Family Welfare Additional Chief Secretary Sumita Misra said Thursday.

Speaking at a state-level workshop in Gurugram on the ABDM Model District and Health Institutions, Misra said digital health should go beyond registering healthcare institutions and creating digital identities, and should translate into more seamless and coordinated patient care.

According to an official statement, Misra said ABDM is intended to establish a secure link between patients and healthcare providers, enabling healthcare information to be accessed securely and improving coordination across institutions.

She identified adoption, interoperability and trust as the three key principles needed to move Haryana from basic digitization toward meaningful digital healthcare.

Haryana has created more than 1.92 crore ABHA IDs, covering nearly 65% of the state's estimated population, Misra said. She called for further expansion of ABHA coverage along with greater utilization of digital health services.

The state has also registered nearly 98% of public health facilities on the Health Facility Registry (HFR), while more than 90% of targeted government doctors have been registered on the Healthcare Professionals Registry (HPR).

With the registration of government hospitals and doctors under ABDM nearing completion, Misra said the state needs to increase participation from private hospitals, healthcare institutions and doctors.

“The success of ABDM will depend on its widespread adoption by both government and private healthcare providers,” she said, adding that the initiative should be viewed as a shared responsibility across the healthcare sector.

Haryana will conduct district-level workshops over the next two months to address implementation challenges at the grassroots level and bring more healthcare institutions into the digital health ecosystem.

Misra also highlighted the role of Ayushman Bharat-empanelled hospitals in maternal and child health, urging healthcare institutions to take a proactive role in addressing maternal and infant mortality.
