ShardaCare Healthcity Launches AI-Powered Free Community Breast Health Screening Programme
The initiative offers contact-free, radiation-free, and painless screenings at the hospital campus as well as at corporate offices, resident welfare associations (RWAs), and community centres.
ShardaCare Healthcity, a leading multi-speciality hospital in North India, has launched a free community breast health screening programme using an AI-powered solution called Thermalytix.
The initiative was unveiled during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, aimed at enhancing women’s health and facilitating early detection.
The programme offers contact-free, radiation-free, and painless screenings at the hospital campus as well as at corporate offices, resident welfare associations (RWAs), and community centres.
The programme was headed by Dr Anil Thakwani, Senior Consultant & Head of Department of Oncology, ShardaCare Healthcity. Speaking of the significance of such an initiative, Dr Thakwani said, “Breast cancer remains a major health concern, with around 60% of patients in India diagnosed at advanced stages. Yet only 0.9% of women aged 30-49 undergo regular screenings.”
He further added, “Thermography offers a promising, non-invasive solution, detecting temperature changes caused by cancer cells without radiation. Portable, fast, and affordable, it can complement mammography or ultrasound, especially for younger women or those with dense breasts, and could even serve as a primary screening tool in low-resource settings.”
The hospital aims to bridge the growing incidence of breast cancer, which accounts for nearly 14% of all cancer cases among Indian women, and the urgent need for accessible and early screening.
The Thermalytix AI screening tool is designed to enable clinicians to identify patients needing further investigation with high accuracy and comfort.
Earlier studies indicate that the AI-based screening demonstrated a sensitivity of 90–95% and a specificity of 82–89% showing diagnostic accuracy and precision.
Rishabh Gupta, Managing Director, Healthcity, emphasised the hospital’s holistic approach, stating, “Our goal is to empower women with knowledge and access to early breast cancer detection. By combining cutting-edge AI technology with patient-centric care, we are redefining breast health screening, improving outcomes, and ultimately saving lives.”
With approximately three to four new breast cancer cases identified each week at Healthcity, the hospital aims to improve access to early detection and ensure timely intervention.
In its first phase, the initiative aims to screen around 1,000 women, extending advanced, accessible breast-health solutions into community settings where awareness and access are still limited.
