Prudential Health India has begun operations, offering access to a network of more than 12,000 hospitals, with a customer model that combines face-to-face guidance through an agency network and an AI-enabled direct-to-consumer platform.

Prudential Health India, a joint venture between UK-based Prudential plc and the HCL Group, has commenced operations in India, bringing a technology-first approach to the country’s expanding health insurance sector.

The standalone insurer is combining an AI-enabled digital platform with an agency-led model to simplify health insurance for customers.

Naveen Tahilyani, Regional CEO, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, India, Africa; Group Agency and Health, Prudential plc, said, “With Prudential Health India, we are building a differentiated health insurance business focused on providing a simpler, more accessible, and seamless customer experience. By combining Prudential’s insurance and health capabilities with HCL Group’s technology and healthcare expertise, we aim to make more accessible and help more Indian families navigate their healthcare journey with confidence.”

Prudential HCL Health Insurance, operating as Prudential Health India, received its Certificate of Registration on July 1, 2026, allowing it to enter a market that recorded approximately $16 Bn in gross written premiums in FY2026.

Prudential Health India said the digital services are intended to help customers identify suitable coverage, manage policies, and receive support throughout their healthcare journey.

Amit Dave, MD & CEO Designate, Prudential Health India, said: “By combining intelligent, proactive support with the right solutions before, during and after a health issue, we aim to make healthcare more accessible, seamless and reassuring. In doing so, we remain committed to supporting the Indian government’s vision of ‘Insurance for All by 2047’.”

The technology-first approach places digital engagement alongside traditional insurance distribution rather than replacing it.

This omnichannel strategy is designed to give customers multiple ways to interact with the insurer, from personal advice to digitally enabled policy and support services.
