OpenEvidence Partners With ASAM to Integrate Addiction Treatment Guidelines Into AI Platform

The integration aims to give clinicians easier access to evidence-based recommendations when addressing addiction and substance use disorders.

OpenEvidence has partnered with the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) to make clinical guidelines and implementation resources for substance use disorder and addiction treatment accessible through its AI-powered medical research platform for clinicians.

Under the partnership, ASAM’s clinical guidelines, guidance, and implementation resources will appear alongside peer-reviewed medical research on OpenEvidence, with citations and direct links to sources. The integration aims to give clinicians easier access to evidence-based recommendations when addressing addiction and substance use disorders.

OpenEvidence, a Florida-based company, offers a free platform for U.S. clinicians that synthesizes medical literature to help answer clinical questions. ASAM represents more than 8,000 physicians, clinicians, and other professionals specializing in addiction medicine. The organization develops clinical guidance and resources to support evidence-based addiction prevention and treatment.

The integration will bring ASAM’s recommendations into clinicians’ existing research workflows, allowing them to access professional guidance alongside published medical evidence through a single platform.

OpenEvidence Expands Medical Publishing Partnerships

The ASAM collaboration adds to OpenEvidence’s growing network of partnerships with medical journals, publishers, and professional associations since the company was founded in 2021.

Its publishing partners include the New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA and JAMA Network specialty journals, Nature Portfolio, Wiley, Sage, and the Journal of Medical Insight.

OpenEvidence also works with professional societies and clinical organizations, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Anticoagulation Forum, and the Global Initiative for Asthma. The ASAM partnership expands the platform’s coverage of specialized clinical guidance in addiction medicine.

OpenEvidence Funding and Valuation

OpenEvidence has also attracted substantial investor funding as it expands its medical information platform and partnerships.

In January 2026, the company closed a $250 million Series D funding round, bringing its total fundraising over the preceding 12 months to nearly $700 million and doubling its valuation to $12 billion.

In July 2025, OpenEvidence raised $210 million in Series B funding at a $3.5 billion valuation. Earlier, in February 2025, it secured approximately $75 million in Series A funding at a $1 billion valuation, achieving unicorn status.
