PM Modi Unveils Early Detection Services Today Under Swasth Nari Abhiyaan
The camps will offer screenings and early detection services for non-communicable diseases such as hypertension and diabetes, as well as anaemia, tuberculosis, breast and cervical cancer, and sickle cell disease.
On his 75th birthday, PM Modi has formally launched the Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh.
This launch marks the rollout of a nationwide initiative focused on women’s and family health.
The campaign, which coincides with the 8th Rashtriya Poshan Maah, will run until October 2 and aims to deliver preventive, diagnostic and awareness services across government health facilities.
Speaking at the launch, Modi stressed that women’s health must be seen as the foundation of family and community well-being.
“If the mother stays healthy, then the whole house stays well. If a mother falls ill, the entire family’s system collapses. The Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar campaign is dedicated to our mothers and sisters,” he said.
He also underlined that affordability would not be a barrier, noting, “All the tests in these camps are free of cost. State treasury is not more important than your health. And the Ayushman Card will assist you with further treatments.”
The Abhiyaan will see health camps organised daily in Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, community health centres, district hospitals, and other public facilities across the country.
These camps will offer screenings and early detection services for non-communicable diseases such as hypertension and diabetes, as well as anaemia, tuberculosis, breast and cervical cancer, and sickle cell disease.
Alongside diagnostic services, the programme is designed to promote awareness of maternal and adolescent health, immunisation, menstrual hygiene, lifestyle disorders, and mental health.
Specialist consultations in areas such as gynaecology, paediatrics, ENT, dermatology, dental, and psychiatry will be made available through coordination with medical colleges, district hospitals and private institutions.
The government has also mobilised digital tools to support the initiative, including the launch of the Suman Sakhi Chatbot, intended to provide maternal and child health information to women at scale.
Furthermore, the campaign is also linked with direct financial assistance schemes. Under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, close to 10 lakh women are expected to receive direct benefit transfers during the course of the Abhiyaan.
Modi highlighted that this linkage was essential to ensure that health outcomes were supported not only through services but also through the financial empowerment of women.
Addressing the gathering, the PM urged women to actively participate in the campaign and assured them that services would reach rural and tribal populations as well.
The programme is designed to integrate with ongoing schemes such as Ayushman Bharat and the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, providing treatment linkages through Ayushman Cards and digital health IDs.
With the formal launch, attention now shifts to the implementation of the Abhiyaan. The scale of mobilisation required across states and districts will test the system’s capacity to deliver screenings, referrals and follow-up treatments effectively.
