NHA Launches NHA Digital Academy to Build a Future-Ready Healthcare Workforce in India

The platform enables authorised users to access e-learning modules, participate in workshops, and join virtual training sessions, while allowing monitoring of individual progress aligned with programme indicators.

The National Health Authority has introduced the NHA Digital Academy as a comprehensive learning platform designed to enhance capacity building and develop a skilled, future-ready healthcare workforce aligned with India’s expanding digital health ecosystem.

The NHA Digital Academy has been established as a collaborative platform, bringing together leading academic institutions, research organisations, and centres of excellence at both national and international levels.

Its core objective is to co-develop and deliver high-quality courses tailored to diverse stakeholders within the health ecosystem, including administrators, implementers, and healthcare professionals.

At the launch, Dr Sunil Kumar Barnwal, CEO, NHA, outlined key strategic priorities, including sustained capacity building through the Digital Health Academy. The platform is expected to play a central role in standardising knowledge dissemination and strengthening programme implementation across states.

Flexible Learning Through a Digital Platform

A key component of the initiative is its web-based Learning Management System, which serves as a one-stop solution for training and development needs linked to AB PM-JAY.

The platform enables authorised users to access e-learning modules, participate in workshops, and join virtual training sessions.

It also supports targeted training delivery and allows monitoring of individual progress aligned with programme indicators.

The NHA Digital Academy offers multiple learning formats to ensure flexibility and accessibility. Self-paced online courses allow participants to engage with structured modules, interact with instructors and peers, and complete assessments leading to digital certification.

Virtual classrooms facilitate real-time engagement through teleconferencing, enabling participants from different geographies to attend sessions simultaneously.

Additionally, workshop modules provide opportunities for discussion, collaboration, and knowledge exchange among stakeholders.

Aligned with Ayushman Bharat’s Expansion

The launch comes during a two-day Chintan Shivir held in Pune, where senior officials from the Centre and States reviewed the progress of key schemes such as Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) and the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM).

These flagship programmes have significantly expanded access to healthcare and digital integration, creating a growing need for trained personnel to manage and scale such systems effectively.

As India continues to advance its digital health infrastructure, initiatives like the NHA Digital Academy are expected to bridge skill gaps and keep the workforce aligned with technological and policy developments.
