Dr. Sunil Kumar Barnwal, Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Authority, has highlighted the pivotal role of HealthTech in strengthening India’s healthcare mission.

In a recent event, Dr. Barnwal said that leveraging digital innovation is essential for building a more resilient and accessible health system in India. He described the shift from a uniform care model to hyper-personalised, preventive, and citizen-centric services as critical in the current digital era.

In his address, he underscored the transformative role of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, characterising it as the foundational digital backbone for interoperable healthcare across the country. The mission, he said, enables verified teleconsultations, consent-based health record exchange, and patient-owned longitudinal health data.

“Healthcare, like other services today, must move towards hyper-personalization, creating informed choices for individuals and employees alike,” Dr. Barnwal noted.

Dr. Barnwal also linked the adoption of digital tools with improved outcomes under national programmes such as PM-JAY and the National Health Mission. He said digital platforms, data analytics, and technology integration are helping detect diseases earlier, support predictive care models, and expand access in underserved regions.

His speech reflected the summit’s broader theme of scaling HealthTech solutions through public-private partnerships. The discussions focused on addressing challenges such as lifestyle diseases, mental health concerns, and workforce burnout by integrating digital technologies into core health services.
