Medtronic Establishes 1st Digital Healthcare Hub in China
The innovation hub will focus on key areas including cardiovascular care, neurological disorders, and minimally invasive surgery, with plans to collaborate with hospitals, startups, and research institutes to co-develop localized healthcare technologies.
Global medical technology leader Medtronic has announced the opening of its first Digital Healthcare Innovation Hub in Beijing, China.
The hub is designed to serve as an ecosystem for developing and testing AI-powered, data-driven healthcare solutions tailored to China’s evolving medical needs.
It will integrate advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data analytics, cloud computing, and the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) to improve diagnostics, treatment planning, and patient outcomes.
Yu Sean Gu, Senior Vice President of Medtronic Global and President of Greater China, said, “The establishment of Medtronic's Digital Healthcare Innovation Base marks a crucial step in Medtronic's deep engagement with the Chinese market and the enhancement of its local value chain layout. As per reports, the innovation hub will focus on key areas including cardiovascular care, neurological disorders, and minimally invasive surgery, with plans to collaborate with hospitals, startups, and research institutes to co-develop localized healthcare technologies.
Further, the hub will also include a digital patient-care center equipped with real-time monitoring and telehealth tools, enabling clinicians to track recovery progress remotely and intervene promptly when complications arise.
Through this platform, Medtronic seeks to develop patient-centered smart healthcare models that are expected to provide more personalized, intelligent, and efficient treatment solutions, advancing Chinese medical practices into globally recognized examples of innovation.
