Medi-Mold Announces INR 100 Cr Investment for India’s First 3D-Printed Ortho-Implant Facility

The new initiative aims to produce advanced, patient-specific orthopaedic implants for trauma, spine, hip and other medical segments leveraging cutting-edge metal additive manufacturing (3D printing) technology.

Medi-Mold, an Andhra Pradesh based leading manufacturer of medical-grade molds and precision tooling, has announced plans to establish India’s First large-scale 3D-printed orthopaedic implant manufacturing facility at Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ) in Visakhapatnam.

The project is being developed in collaboration with OIC International (USA) and AddUp (France), a subsidiary of the Fives Group.

The new initiative aims to produce advanced, patient-specific orthopaedic implants for trauma, spine, hip and other medical segments leveraging cutting-edge metal additive manufacturing (3D printing) technology.

As part of the transaction, Medi-Mold has committed to an investment outlay of INR 100 crores towards OIC International’s setup, India entry, manufacturing, and expansion plans.

Further, the fresh capital infusion will be deployed to set up and scale the 3D printed implants facility and localize production which is expected to reduce India’s reliance on imports.

It will also support the transfer of proprietary technology, patents, and manufacturing SOPs, and the development of a specialized workforce for advanced MedTech manufacturing.

The upcoming unit will tap into AMTZ’s advanced testing laboratories, machining centres, and regulatory ecosystem to deliver high-quality ortho implants at globally competitive prices.

Commenting on the development, Dr Teja, Chief Executive Officer, Medi-Mold added, “AMTZ and Medi Mold are proud to host this technologically advanced facility, aligning with India’s vision of becoming a global MedTech manufacturing hub.”
