Jammu & Kashmir Boosts Telemedicine Services to Improve Healthcare Access

In the initial phase, 40 telemedicine units will be deployed across all ten districts of the Kashmir Division, linking patients with clinicians via video and telephone consultations.

The Government of Jammu & Kashmir has announced a significant expansion of telemedicine services across the Union Territory, aiming to improve access to medical care in remote and hard‑to‑reach areas.

Under the expansion plan, the local Primary Health Centres (PHCs), Community Health Centres (CHCs), and other peripheral facilities will be connected through telemedicine networks to specialist doctors and tertiary care hospitals.

The new initiative is expected to reduce the need for patients to travel long distances for consultations, particularly during the winter months when road access can be restricted.

In the initial phase, 40 telemedicine units will be deployed across all ten districts of the Kashmir Division, linking patients with clinicians via video and telephone consultations.

The system is expected to connect patients in remote areas with specialist doctors, fundamentally improving healthcare access and delivery.

Recently, AIIMS Jammu had launched a Global CoE for AI, which calls for Excellence in fields like robotics, telemedicine, oncology, trauma care, and predictive medicine.
