India Aims to Triple MedTech Exports to UK by 2030, Says AIMED Delegation
The industry leaders also highlighted the potential for cooperation on digital health and remote-monitoring solutions, citing India’s strength in health tech and information technology.
India’s medtech industry is setting its goal to expand its footprint in the UK by tripling its exports to INR 2,917-3,493 crore( $329-394 million) by 2030 from INR 1,117 crore ($126 million) in 2024.
Recently, a seven-member Indian delegation from the Association of Indian Medical Device Industry (AIMED) met in the UK Parliament to discuss opportunities under the proposed Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA).
Reportedly, the discussions focused on regulatory alignment, market access, manufacturing partnership, industry, and technology transfer.
Further, the industry leaders also highlighted the potential for cooperation on digital health and remote-monitoring solutions, citing India’s strength in health tech and information technology.
The delegation also addressed key challenges regarding United Kingdom Conformity Assessed (UKCA) and Conformité Européenne (CE) marking requirements, expectations of the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency, procurement norms of the National Health Service, and patient safety and sustainability standards.
In the larger picture, India’s medical device industry aims to take a global leap by positioning India amongst the Top 5 global medical device manufacturing hubs by 2030.
