Himachal CM Announces INR 500 Cr Investment to Upgrade Medical Equipment in Medical Colleges

The installation of medical technology is aimed at strengthening diagnostic services and improving the accuracy and timeliness of diagnosis.

The Himachal Pradesh government has announced plans to upgrade the medical diagnostic equipment in medical colleges across Himachal Pradesh with an investment of approximately INR 500 crore.

The installation of medical diagnostic technology is intended to strengthen diagnostic services and enhance the accuracy and timeliness of diagnosis.

Sharing the latest development in a social post, the Himachal CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said, “State-of-the-art diagnostic machines are being installed in all medical colleges of the state at a cost of approximately 500 crore rupees, which will make testing facilities more accurate and better.”

In addition to medical colleges, the state government is also appointing specialist doctors at all 70 Adarsh Medical Institutions to ensure better healthcare is accessible to residents closer to home, a statement issued here said.

Further, Sukhu stated that Dr Radhakrishnan Government Medical College at Jolsappar would be inaugurated shortly.

The government has also stated that the first Allied Health Sciences institution of its kind in North India will be established in Hamirpur.

The medical equipment upgrade forms part of Himachal Pradesh’s broader efforts to strengthen healthcare and diagnostic infrastructure across the state.

The latest development follows the government's recent INR 3,000 crore investment proposal to modernise healthcare infrastructure, replace outdated medical equipment, and strengthen diagnostic services across the state.

Furthermore, Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr (Col.) Dhani Ram Shandil stated that the proposed initiative would also focus on accelerating transparent procurement through the Himachal Pradesh Medical Services Corporation Limited (HPMSCL).
