Epic Partners with Penn Medicine to Advance Technology-Driven Outpatient Clinic
The initiative seeks to build a “smarter, integrated clinic,” integrating digital tools throughout key points of care in outpatient settings.
Epic Systems, a global digital healthtech company, has announced a collaboration with Philadelphia-based healthcare system Penn Medicine to develop a technology-enhanced outpatient clinic aimed at enhancing both patient and clinician experiences.
The initiative seeks to build a “smarter, integrated clinic,” integrating digital tools throughout key points of care in outpatient settings, which is expected to streamline administrative processes, personalize care, and support better collaboration between physicians and patients.
According to Epic, the partnership is designed to strengthen technology integration within outpatient facilities and improve digital systems to support clinical operations.
The partnership also includes efforts to simplify patient check-in, tailor patient care using data insights, and strengthen communication among care teams.
As part of early planning, Penn Medicine reportedly hosted Epic staff to exchange ideas and preview a model integrated exam room that will be featured in a new multispecialty clinic in Montgomeryville, Pennsylvania, which is scheduled to open in 2027.
In a recent development, Epic has also partnered with Humana to expand its data-sharing collaboration, introducing automated insurance verification and digital check-in capabilities.
The initiative aligns with federal interoperability requirements ahead of the first-quarter 2026 deadline under the Trump administration.
