Dr L H Hiranandani Hospital in Powai, Mumbai, has expanded its cancer care and hospital operations with the launch of a second Advanced Radiation Therapy Unit.
The initiative is in partnership with the International Oncology Cancer Institute, alongside the introduction of a Pneumatic Chute System aimed at improving the speed and coordination of critical medical services within the hospital.
The newly inaugurated Advanced Radiation Therapy Unit is powered by the Halcyon High-End Linear Accelerator, a next-generation radiation delivery system designed to provide high precision treatment while reducing treatment time and improving patient comfort.
The technology is expected to support oncologists in delivering targeted radiation therapy with improved accuracy and enhanced safety standards.
Alongside the oncology expansion, the hospital also launched a Pneumatic Chute System, an automated internal logistics solution designed to transport medical samples, medicines, blood products, and critical hospital items between departments within minutes.
The system is expected to reduce manual handling, improve turnaround times, and support faster clinical decision-making in high-pressure care environments.
The hospital stated that the twin launches reflect its continued emphasis on combining advanced clinical technology with operational efficiency to improve patient outcomes and care delivery experiences.
The development builds on the hospital’s recent focus on technology-driven healthcare delivery.
Less than a year ago, Dr L H Hiranandani Hospital partnered with RED.Health to introduce 5G-enabled ALS ambulances equipped with real-time patient monitoring, remote specialist consultation capabilities, and instant access to medical records during emergency transit.
Before that, the hospital also installed a 384 Slice Cardiac CT scanner from Siemens Healthineers to enhance cardiac imaging accuracy and support AI-assisted diagnosis and treatment planning for cardiovascular patients.
