The Delhi government plans to replicate the Dwarka model across all 11 districts. Each clinic will offer mental health screening, lifestyle counselling, and caregiver support services.

The Delhi Government has launched its first dedicated brain health clinic in Dwarka, marking a significant step in strengthening neurological care at the district level.

Delhi Health Minister Pankaj Singh recently inaugurated the clinic at Dwarka’s Indira Gandhi Hospital.

Established under the India Brain Health Initiative with guidance from NITI Aayog and technical support from IHBAS (Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences), the clinic aims to provide comprehensive screening, therapy, and follow-up care for neurological conditions such as stroke, epilepsy, Parkinson's disease, dementia, and migraine. Services will also include counselling and tele-neurology consultations.

"This is not just a facility, it is a mission. Whenever you face a brain-related problem, come here. Don't hide or delay treatment. Similar centres will be opened in every district," Singh stated during the inauguration.

Further, the Delhi government plans to replicate the Dwarka model across all 11 districts.

Each clinic will offer mental health screening, lifestyle counselling, and caregiver support services. IHBAS will train staff, standardise care protocols, and monitor outcomes to ensure quality and consistency.

According to officials, neurological conditions are currently the second leading cause of death globally and the top cause of disability-adjusted life years (DALYs).

In response, NITI Aayog established a National Task Force on Brain Health in April 2024, led by Dr Rajinder Kumar Dhamija, Director of IHBAS, to drive evidence-based policymaking.

The Health Department noted, “We are building a future-ready health system that makes neurological care accessible to all. Brain health is foundational to a productive, mentally resilient society.”
