Zoho has acquired Kochi-based Asimov Robotics, a startup specializing in robotics, with a strong focus on healthcare, industrial automation, and assistive technology.

Asimov Robotics, founded in 2012 by Jayakrishnan T, will continue its work under Zoho’s mentorship from the Kottarakkara office. The startup has previously gained attention for its robots deployed in hospitals during the COVID-19 pandemic and its collaborations with research institutions.

Zoho also unveiled partnerships with Kerala Startup Mission for its deep tech Product Studio initiative. Further, they also announced multiple R&D collaborations with startups and other organizations.

Additionally, Zoho Corporation inaugurated a new research and development campus in Kottarakkara, Kerala. The facility, which has a seating capacity of 250, will focus on artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics research.

The inauguration was attended by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Finance Minister K N Balagopal, and Zoho leaders, including Co-founder and CEO Shailesh Davey, Zoho US CEO Tony Thomas, and Co-founder and Chief Scientist Sridhar Vembu.

“Our Kottarakkara office will be dedicated to enhancing our R&D projects in various fields, starting with AI and Robotics. Apart from our own work in these fields, we also will be collaborating with like-minded deep tech organizations to further amplify our efforts,” said Shailesh Davey, Co-founder and CEO of Zoho Corp.

Finance Minister K N Balagopal also added, “This collaboration with Zoho would be a significant step in strengthening Kerala’s local ecosystems by enabling intellectual property creation, product research, and development from rural areas. The Zoho campus at Kottarakkara, currently nearing completion, stands as a pilot model for this transformative approach.”
